About the Colt King Cobra
The King Cobra is a medium-frame double-action revolver manufactured by Colt's Manufacturing Company. Chambered in .357 Magnum, it is designed for personal defense, home protection, and general shooting, and it revives a classic Colt nameplate with modern manufacturing standards.
How the California versions differ
- All four versions are chambered in .357 Magnum, which also accepts .38 Special ammunition.
- Barrel length varies across the lineup: two models feature a 2-inch barrel, one offers a 3-inch barrel, and one offers a 4-inch barrel.
- The two 2-inch models share the same barrel length but carry different model codes (KCOBRA-SB2BB-S and KCOBRA-SB2BB), suggesting a variant difference such as finish or grip configuration between them.
- The 3-inch model (KCOBRA-SB3BB) offers a middle-ground barrel suitable for balancing concealability with a slightly longer sight radius.
- The 4-inch model (KCOBRA-SB4TS) provides the longest barrel in this roster group, generally offering improved velocity and the longest sight radius of the four.
Who it suits
The King Cobra is well suited to shooters seeking a capable defensive revolver, with the shorter-barreled variants appealing to those prioritizing concealed carry and the longer-barreled models better suited to home defense or range use.
