About the Les Baer 1911
Les Baer Custom is an American manufacturer based in Iowa, known for producing high-end, hand-fitted 1911-pattern semi-automatic pistols built to tight tolerances. The Les Baer 1911 family is chambered in .45 ACP and is designed for competitive shooting, duty carry, and serious recreational use where above-average precision is a priority.
How the California versions differ
- All California-roster Les Baer models share the same caliber (.45 ACP) and barrel length (5"), so differences lie in configuration and intended purpose rather than size or caliber.
- Models labeled "(1.5" Group)" indicate a factory accuracy guarantee, meaning each pistol is tested to produce a 1.5-inch group at a specified distance before shipping.
- The Concept I and Concept II represent entry-level configurations within the Les Baer lineup, while the Premier II, Super Tac, Thunder Ranch, Ultimate Master Combat, and Custom Carry models reflect more specialized feature sets and finishes.
- The DCM National Match Hardball and PPC Distinguished are purpose-built for specific competitive shooting disciplines, such as DCM/CMP service rifle-style events and PPC pistol competition.
- The S.R.P. (Street/Special Response Pistol) models do not have a listed MSRP in the California roster database; all other models range from $1,995 to $2,995.
Who it suits
Les Baer 1911s are best suited to experienced shooters seeking a precision-fitted competition or duty pistol, and to enthusiasts who prioritize craftsmanship and out-of-the-box accuracy in a full-size 1911 platform.
