Is the Rost Martin RM1C legal in California?
Yes. 7 versions of the Rost Martin RM1C are on the California DOJ Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale as of October 26, 2026, so California dealers can sell those exact versions new. Only the specific versions listed on this page are certified: a different finish, barrel length or caliber that is not listed is off-roster and can only be bought through a private party transfer at a licensed dealer.

About the Rost Martin RM1C
Rost Martin is a newer American firearms manufacturer that entered the market with the RM1C, a striker-fired, polymer-frame compact pistol chambered in 9mm. It is designed as a general-purpose handgun suited for concealed carry, home defense, and range use.
How the California versions differ
- Finish: The standard RM1C is available in Black, FDE (Flat Dark Earth), Gray, and ODG (Olive Drab Green) frame options.
- Optics cut: Models with "OSP" in the name feature an optics mounting cut on the slide, allowing direct attachment of a compatible red-dot sight. The ODG variant listed does not carry the OSP designation.
- RM1CX variant: The RM1CXBLKOSP10CA entries suggest an updated or alternate "X" variant of the RM1C in Black with an optics cut, offered in both a standard and a compensated configuration.
- Compensated models: Listings marked "(COMP)" indicate an integrated or attached compensator on the barrel, intended to reduce muzzle rise during firing.
- Barrel length: All listed versions share a 4-inch barrel; no shorter or longer barrel options appear on the California roster.
Who it suits
The RM1C family is a practical choice for shooters seeking a compact 9mm for everyday carry or home defense, particularly those who want optics-ready or compensated options within a single model line.
