About the SIG Sauer P229
The SIG Sauer P229 is a compact, double-action/single-action semi-automatic pistol manufactured by SIG Sauer. It is built on an aluminum alloy frame with a stainless steel slide and is designed primarily for concealed carry, duty use, and personal defense.
How the California versions differ
- Caliber: Two versions are chambered in 9mm and one in .40 S&W, so buyers must choose based on their preferred cartridge.
- Trim level: One version is the standard P229 while two are the Enhanced Elite variant, which adds an improved beavertail, enhanced ergonomics, and a short-reset trigger compared to the base model.
- Price: The standard P229 carries an MSRP of $1,095, while both Enhanced Elite versions are priced at $1,199.
- Model number prefix: All three California roster versions use the 229R designation, indicating they share the same basic frame and 3.9-inch barrel length.
- Finish: All three listed versions are offered in black.
Who it suits
The P229 is well suited to law enforcement officers, armed professionals, and experienced civilian shooters looking for a compact, full-featured pistol for duty carry or home defense. Its size also makes it a practical option for concealed carry by those comfortable with a mid-weight handgun.
